News From Cyprus

Greek Defense Minister Nikos Dendias on Tuesday pledged Athens’ full support to Cyprus, telling President Nikos Christodoulides that Greece stands ready to provide any assistance it can within its capabilities.

Speaking at the start of their meeting in Nicosia, Dendias said the broader region is facing “difficult moments,” and stressed that Greece intends to demonstrate both symbolically and substantively its commitment to helping Cyprus and its people.

Dendias said he would meet with Cypriot Defense Minister Vasilis Palmas to discuss the practical details of possible support and explore additional steps the two countries could take.

Four Hellenic Air Force F‑16 fighter jets arrived on the island Monday afternoon. Two Greek frigates, Kimon and Psara, are also sailing toward Cyprus, with one equipped with an anti‑drone system, according to Cypriot officials.
