Police operations across Cyprus have been making the local headlines.
The Politis newspaper reported that a money laundering gang was dismantled with the help of the Cypriot police and the intervention of police authorities in European countries, in cooperation with Europol.
The newspaper reported that the leaders of this criminal organization were two brothers of Ukrainian origin and that these two individuals had also obtained Cypriot citizenship within the framework of the “Cyprus Investment Program” (KEP).
The newspaper, which stated that many third-country nationals were transporting large amounts of money from European countries to Cyprus, also drew attention to the fact that no arrests were made in Cyprus, despite the questioning of various individuals.
According to the news, one of the Ukrainian brothers, who is a Cypriot citizen, was arrested in Slovenia and the other in Spain.
According to another report by the Politis newspaper, shots were fired at a house in Limassol. A 48-year-old man, who had previously kept the police busy for various crimes, has been arrested. The Fileleftheros newspaper reported that in the incident that took place in Paphos, two men, aged 37 and 34, who had various items of jewellery in their possession and could not provide the necessary explanation to the police, were arrested for theft and robbery.
