Cyprus is taking immediate steps to address challenges arising from the conflict in the Middle East, President Nikos Christodoulides said Thursday after a broad meeting focused on the tourism sector.
Christodoulides stressed that Cyprus remains safe and that the country’s tourism industry has repeatedly shown its resilience, noting that the past two years recorded all‑time highs in arrivals and revenue.
He said officials agreed on a set of immediate measures to counter the impact of regional developments.
Referring to the arrival of an Italian frigate in Cyprus, Christodoulides thanked the countries that have responded, as well as European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen for her support.
He said Cyprus consistently forms part of the solution, not the problem.
