The Nicosia Fire Department handled 38 incidents, including 24 fires and 14 other cases, within a single day.
At 21:52, two fire engines responded to a fire caused by a gas heater in a domestic worker’s room.
The worker received minor burns and was taken to Nicosia General Hospital.
Later, at 22:34, four fire engines, including a telescopic boom vehicle, were dispatched to a fire in a fourth-floor apartment in Strovolos.
The kitchen was badly damaged, and the entire apartment suffered smoke and heat damage. Residents were evacuated, and the elderly owner was taken to the emergency room as a precaution.
Both fires were linked to issues with gas heaters, according to Cyprus radio.
