Casinos operating in the Republic of Cyprus have contributed €166.4 million to state revenues between 2018 and 2025, the head of the Cyprus Gaming and Casino Supervision Commission said, according to Politis.
Commission chairman Pieris Chourides told the newspaper during the presentation of the body’s annual report that the government’s net revenue from casinos over the past two years alone reached €41 million.
Chourides said total revenue since casinos began operating in 2018 has now climbed to €166.4 million.
Responding to a question, he also described casinos in the Turkish‑controlled north as “illegal,” while acknowledging that authorities cannot prevent residents of the Republic from crossing north to gamble.
