Cyprus’ president held his fifth phone call with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, expressing what he called deep concern over Israeli strikes on civilians and critical infrastructure in Lebanon that have caused heavy casualties, according to a government statement.
Government spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis said President Christodoulides conveyed Cyprus’ solidarity with Lebanon’s government and people, adding that “there can be no justification for actions that inflict widespread human suffering on civilians.”
Cyprus has provided €300,000 in humanitarian aid to Lebanon in response to the country’s appeal for support.
