Two deadly traffic accidents occurred Saturday afternoon in Cyprus, claiming the lives of an elderly woman and a pedestrian in separate incidents along the same road.
The first crash happened around 1 p.m. on Grigori Afxentiou Street in Agia Varvara, where 80-year-old Andriana Lefteri was killed. Police said she was a passenger in a vehicle that collided head-on with another car under circumstances still under investigation.
Just over an hour later, at approximately 2:30 p.m., a second fatal incident occurred on the same street in Episkopeio. According to police, a 19-year-old driver struck 71-year-old Dimitrios Skoufaris, who appeared to be crossing the road at the time.
Skoufaris was transported by ambulance to Nicosia General Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Authorities are continuing their investigations into both accidents.
