FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – A quantity of cannabis exceeding two kilograms was seized yesterday afternoon in Nicosia by members of the Cyprus Drug Enforcement Agency.

A 50-year-old resident of Larnaca was arrested to facilitate the investigations.

Following an assessment of information, members of the National Anti-Corruption Commission stopped a car driven by the 50-year-old on a Nicosia road at around 7:30 PM. During the search, they found and seized a quantity of cannabis with a gross weight of two kilograms, a nylon package containing cannabis weighing three grams, and a mobile phone.

A subsequent search of his apartment in Larnaca led to the discovery and seizure of a small quantity of cannabis.

The 50-year-old was arrested for the flagrant offense of illegal possession of drugs and taken into custody. He is expected to appear before the Nicosia District Court later today for the issuance of a detention order.
