Cyprus’ economy expanded 3.0% in the first quarter of 2026 compared with a year earlier, according to preliminary quarterly national accounts released by the Cyprus Statistical Service.
Growth was driven mainly by wholesale and retail trade, transportation, tourism and food services, information and communication, and financial and insurance activities.
The figures reflect continued strength in sectors tied to consumer activity and services.
Based on the production approach, information and communication recorded the largest annual increase at 5.4%. Construction followed with 4.9%, while the broader sector covering trade, transportation, accommodation and food services grew 4.4%.
