Energy, Commerce and Industry Minister Michalis Damianou has departed for Yaoundé, Cameroon, where he will chair the EU Foreign Affairs Council (Trade) on the sidelines of the World Trade Organization’s 14th Ministerial Conference, taking place March 26–29.

The gathering of EU trade ministers aims to finalize the Union’s common positions ahead of the WTO meeting, the organization’s highest decision‑making body.

The conference will bring together ministers and senior officials from all 166 WTO member states to set priorities for global trade policy.

According to the announcement, discussions will focus on challenges and opportunities within the multilateral trading system, as well as future WTO work, including reforms to modernize its structure and procedures.

Damianou will represent Cyprus in his dual capacity as minister and as part of preparations for the country’s 2026 presidency of the EU Council.
