FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – Cyprus recorded one of the lowest numbers of drowning cases in the European Union in 2022, according to data from the EU’s statistical agency Eurostat.
Local newspaper Haravgi reported that 13 drowning deaths occurred in Cyprus that year.
Only Luxembourg, Malta, and Slovenia reported fewer fatalities, with totals of 1, 3, and 25 respectively.
Eurostat did not provide further breakdowns on the locations or circumstances of the incidents.
