The funeral for the victims of the devastating Limassol fire will be held this Saturday.

Maria Georgiou, 33, and her three children, Angelina (8), Melina (3), and Angelou-Michael (2), will be laid to rest.

The service will take place at 10 AM at the Church of St. Nicholas in Limassol, followed by burial at Sfalangiotissa Cemetery. The body of the Egyptian father, Bassem Adeeb Gamil Takla, will be transported to his home country for burial.

The fire, which broke out in the early hours of February 15, claimed the lives of the entire family. The blaze started between the kitchen and living room of their second-floor apartment, quickly engulfing the home and trapping the family inside. Despite the immediate response from firefighters, who arrived within minutes, the flames had already spread too rapidly.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the fire, with authorities examining whether an electrical fault or an unattended appliance may have triggered the blaze.

The tragedy has sparked urgent discussions about fire safety and electrical regulations in Cyprus, highlighting the need for stricter enforcement and mandatory inspections.

As a mark of respect, the Limassol Municipality has postponed all planned carnival events for Saturday.

The community mourns the loss of this family and calls for increased awareness and preventive measures to avoid such tragedies in the future.
