FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – The official start of the hunting season begins today, with approximately 20,000 hunters expected to take part in the first of seven outings targeting wood pigeons.
The Game and Fauna Service emphasized that all harvested game must be recorded through the Artemis Cy mobile app, which is mandatory for all species.
The agency urged hunters to respect both written and unwritten hunting laws, show consideration toward fellow hunters, and avoid causing damage to private property.
Accurate harvest reporting, the service noted, will allow for more reliable data collection and better wildlife management.
Meanwhile, the Forestry Department issued a warning, asking hunters to avoid any actions that could spark wildfires, particularly in rural and forested areas.
