Cyprus inflation rises 1.4% year-on-year, led by recreation and hospitality

FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – The Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) rose 1.4% between April 2024 and April 2025, with a 0.7% increase from March to April 2025, according to Eurostat estimates.

Compared to April 2024, recreation and culture saw the highest price increase at 7.1%, followed by restaurants and hotels at 5.6%. Clothing and footwear recorded the largest decline at -7.0%.

Month-on-month, clothing and footwear rose 5.2%, while transport increased 4.0%.

From January to April 2025, compared to the same period in 2024, recreation and culture climbed 7.3%, restaurants and hotels rose 5.3%, and clothing and footwear declined -5.6%.

The most significant shift in economic categories was energy, down -9.3% year-on-year and -4.7% month-on-month.
