In statements after the meeting with the UN chief in New York, Kombos said that Nicosia’s position is absolutely clear and unambiguous, emphasizing that this message was “communicated” to the Secretary-General a few days before Ms. Di Carlo’s arrival in Cyprus and a few weeks before the informal five-party meeting in Switzerland.
“We reaffirmed to the Secretary General that we will be completely synchronized with his positive steps,” the Foreign Minister stated.
He also said that he had a constructive discussion with Mr. Guterres, during which he reiterated the clear and unwavering will of the Greek Cypriot side for an immediate return to substantive negotiations, always within the framework set by the Security Council.
