British Defense Secretary John Healey visited Cyprus on Thursday and held talks with Greek Cypriot Defense Minister Vasilis Palmas, officials said.
Government spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis said the two discussed political cooperation and exchanged views on regional security developments.
According to the spokesman, Healey briefed Palmas on decisions taken by the U.K. government, including the deployment of the HMS Dragon and helicopters equipped with anti‑drone systems to Cyprus.
Separately, Healey wrote on the X platform that the long‑standing partnership between the United Kingdom and the Republic of Cyprus “remains strong in the face of Iran’s threats,” according to the news site Alphanews.
The outlet Sigmalive reported that the meeting also focused on security conditions in the Middle East and Eastern Mediterranean.
It said both sides expressed interest in strengthening communication and cooperation on crisis‑management issues affecting civilian safety.
Palmas reiterated the Cypriot administration’s position in favor of the peaceful resolution of disputes and the need to maintain stability in the region, according to the reports.
