FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – The campaign to repatriate talent to Cyprus, titled “Minds in Cyprus,” officially kicks off Wednesday in London, with President Nikos Christodoulides presenting the country’s new Action Plan for the Repatriation of Talent.
The initiative, described by Government Spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis as a key component of Cyprus’ economic transition toward a knowledge-based economy, aims to harness the expertise of the Cypriot diaspora.
Co-organized by the Presidency of the Republic, Invest Cyprus, and the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), the event has drawn significant interest, with more than 750 Cypriot scientists, professionals, and students in the United Kingdom expected to participate.
Also in attendance are executives from 20 major companies operating in Cyprus and Centers of Excellence, aiming to showcase opportunities in the country’s evolving labor market.
Christodoulides will outline the government’s strategic approach to talent repatriation, which integrates policies on employment, innovation, entrepreneurship, taxation, education, and family reintegration.
“The ‘Minds in Cyprus’ initiative marks the beginning of a coordinated national effort to transform brain drain into an opportunity for growth, by leveraging Cyprus’ skilled human capital,” Letymbiotis stated.
Christodoulides is accompanied by several top officials, including Labor Minister Yiannis Panagiotou, Deputy Minister to the President Irini Piki, and Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation, and Digital Policy Nikodimos Damianou.
