FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – Political leaders in Cyprus have expressed satisfaction with the outcomes of the recent multilateral conference held in Geneva, describing it as a constructive step toward resolving the Cyprus problem.
DISY President Annita Dimitri0u highlighted the conference’s achievements, including the appointment of representatives, the potential resumption of negotiations, the scheduling of the next conference, and the establishment of confidence-building measures.
Dimitriou also acknowledged the significant role played by a letter from the European Council and EU Commission presidents in advancing the process.
She reaffirmed her party’s commitment to contributing proposals within the framework of joint efforts by the Greek Cypriot side.
AKEL Secretary General Stefanos Stefanou echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the importance of keeping the negotiation process alive. He stressed the need for thorough preparations ahead of the next conference, set for July, to ensure progress toward a comprehensive solution to the Cyprus issue.
Statements from the DIKO and DIPA parties also characterized the conference’s results as a positive initial step, underscoring the importance of continued efforts to build on this momentum.
