FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE — Limassol is grappling with a serious lifeguard shortage, just as thousands of beachgoers flock to the coast during a scorching heatwave.
According to reports, only 43 of the 79 approved lifeguard posts have been filled across the district.
Of the 26 lifeguard towers designated for public safety, just 16 are currently in operation.
The situation is especially critical at Governor’s Beach, where not a single tower is staffed—a failure raising alarm among residents and beachgoers.
