Police intensified patrols and inspections across all districts as part of efforts to prevent the use of firecrackers, the lighting of Easter bonfires and other forms of youth delinquency.

During the operations, patrols responded to several incidents involving fires. In some cases, officers located and seized wood that had been gathered for bonfires.

In Limassol district, police responded overnight to three fire incidents — two involving small fires and one involving two burning garbage bins. All were extinguished by the Fire Service.

In another case, officers found wood collected for a bonfire and notified the local authority to remove it.

Patrols in Limassol also stopped a group of youths on motorbikes. A total of 38 people were checked, with no offenses detected.

Another 32 individuals, including minors, were located in areas where young people gather. Parents of the minors were notified to collect them.

In Nicosia district, police located and seized wood intended for a bonfire. Additional quantities of wood were found and removed in six separate cases on Friday in Nicosia, Limassol and Larnaca.

Police said they will continue increased patrols and targeted actions across all districts to prevent dangerous behavior and enhance public safety. Authorities urged the public to act responsibly and cooperate with law enforcement.
