FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – The country’s electricity supply has improved Thursday, and based on current data, the Transmission System Operator expressed hope that no power cuts will be necessary later in the day.
The energy production balance is more favorable than Wednesday, due to the addition of a small 17-megawatt unit from the Dhekelia power station and an expected increase in wind energy output.
On Wednesday, extreme heat and technical failures at four Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) units led to rolling blackouts between 6:26 p.m. and 8:28 p.m.
Officials said the cuts were necessary to “preserve the stability of the electrical system.”
