President Nikos Christodoulides said he would submit an application for Cyprus to join NATO “tomorrow morning” if it were politically feasible, according to an exclusive interview published Wednesday by HuffPost Greece.
Christodoulides emphasized that while he strongly supports NATO membership, he does not intend to apply at this stage only to receive a rejection.
He noted that internal preparations are underway so that Cyprus can formally apply when political conditions allow.
The president’s comments reflect growing interest in aligning Cyprus more closely with Western defense structures amid regional security concerns.
