FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – President Nikos Christodoulides will donate his monthly stipend from his previous diplomatic service at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to support charitable institutions, the presidency announced Tuesday.
According to the statement, Christodoulides will allocate the €730 monthly compensation to different nonprofit organizations each year for the duration of his presidency.
The president informed leaders of six Community Volunteer Councils across Cyprus — which operate elderly care programs — that the funds will be directed over the next 12 months to housing facilities and care centers for seniors. The designated centers are located in Klirou, Evrychou, Foini, Athienou, Geroskipou and Paralimni.
The initiative is part of a broader effort to strengthen community-based care services and reflects the president’s commitment to social welfare, the statement said.
