The president pledged that the government will support everyone affected by the outbreak of foot‑and‑mouth disease.
He said veterinary authorities implemented specific measures in December, when the first case appeared in the Turkish‑occupied north.
He also noted that, based on the information he has received, there are indications of possible illegal activity that contributed to the difficult situation the government is now trying to manage.
President Nikos Christodoulides added that despite the challenges, exports — particularly of halloumi — continue without disruptions or restrictions.
