Cyprus’ Consumer Protection Service on Friday released its annual Christmas Price Observatory, detailing retail prices for fresh meat, vegetables and holiday pastries ahead of the festive season.
The survey, conducted on Dec. 18, gathered prices from 86 outlets for fresh meat, 35 for vegetables and 45 for baked goods, covering supermarkets, neighborhood butchers, bakeries and patisseries across all districts.
Officials said the observatory is intended to help consumers compare prices and make informed choices, adding that it also promotes transparency and competition in the market. They stressed, however, that the report is for general information only and does not constitute shopping advice or replace individual market research.
The service noted that quality differences between products cannot be reflected in the price tables and urged consumers to check both prices and product characteristics before making purchases.
Detailed data from the Christmas Price Observatory is available on the Consumer Protection Service website.
