Cyprus: Rescue Operation Launched After Fall at Ayia Napa Sea Caves

FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – A rescue operation was launched Monday morning after a person was injured in a fall on the rocks near the sea caves in Ayia Napa, authorities said.

The Joint Rescue Coordination Center activated the national search and rescue plan “NEARCHOS” at 11:01 a.m. following reports of the incident.

Specialized personnel from the Famagusta Fire Station, the Disaster Response Special Unit (EMAK), and an ambulance from the State Health Services Organization (OKYPY) were dispatched.

The injured individual was retrieved and transported to Famagusta General Hospital for medical treatment.

Officials reminded the public that approaching or diving near the sea caves at Cape Greco is strictly prohibited due to dangerous erosion, as confirmed by the Geological Survey Department.
