Heat Wave Expected to Grip Cyprus as Seasonal Low Pressure Persists

A seasonal low-pressure system is affecting the region, with a mass of hot air expected to arrive Friday, bringing soaring temperatures across Cyprus.

Tonight, skies will remain mostly clear. Winds will blow from the northwest at light strength, around 3 Beaufort, and seas will gradually become slightly choppy.

Overnight temperatures are forecast to drop to 22°C inland, 24°C along the coast, and 20°C in the higher mountains.

Conditions will stay mostly clear. Winds will shift from variable to southwesterly and northwesterly, reaching light to moderate levels at 3 to 4 Beaufort. Seas will remain slightly choppy.

Temperatures will climb sharply, reaching 39°C inland, 32°C on the western coast, 35°C on other coastal areas, and 31°C in the mountains.

Friday night will remain mostly clear, with light northwesterly to northeasterly winds and calm to slightly choppy seas.

The warm, dry weather is expected to continue through the weekend and into Monday.

Temperatures will rise noticeably through Sunday and remain well above seasonal averages into early next week.
