FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – The number of building permits issued in Cyprus fell by 24% in January 2025 compared to the same month last year, according to the Statistical Service.
A total of 446 permits were authorized, covering an area of 189,900 square meters, with a combined value of €230.8 million. These permits allow for the construction of 838 dwelling units.
Despite the decline in permits, the total value of approved projects rose by 4.3%, while the number of dwelling units saw a slight increase of 0.5%.
Since July 2024, the responsibility for issuing building permits has shifted from municipalities and district offices to newly established Local Government Organizations (LGOs), with licensing now processed through the integrated information system “Ippodamos.”
