FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – The Cyprus Department of Forests announced the successful completion of activities for the International Day of Forests, which highlighted this year’s theme, “Forests and Food.”
Events included guided nature trail tours in locations such as Kyparissia and the Xyliatos Dam, where participants learned about local flora and fauna and forest fire prevention.
Environmental Information and Education Centres in Cavo Greco and Troodos, along with the Troodos Botanical Garden, hosted over 200 visitors, including Erasmus+ students.
Attendees engaged in exhibits, dioramas, and films about Cyprus’ national parks, and children participated in crafts with natural and recycled materials.
A volunteer group also cleaned coastal forests in Mavralis and Gialia after being briefed on the event’s theme. The Department reaffirmed its commitment to supporting initiatives promoting forest conservation and protection.
