Turkish Cypriot police have arrested three suspects in connection with an attempted shooting outside two entertainment venues on İsmet İnönü Boulevard early Wednesday.
According to a police statement, around 2 a.m., an unidentified man approached the establishments and attempted to fire a handgun he was carrying illegally. The weapon failed to discharge, and the suspect fled the scene.
Investigators reviewed surveillance footage and conducted searches in the area, recovering a 9mm pistol, a magazine with nine live rounds, a hat, a mobile phone, and an ID card believed to belong to the suspect. A 41-year-old man, identified as M.Ö.S., was taken into custody.
Later that evening, around 8:30 p.m., officers from the Famagusta and Kyrenia criminal investigation units conducted a joint operation in Kyrenia, arresting two additional suspects: E.D., 23, and his alleged accomplice D.K., 22.
The investigation is ongoing.
