FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – Two portable desalination units installed in Potima are expected to go into operation this week to support the water supply needs of Pegeia.
The units — each with a capacity of 2,000 cubic meters — were confirmed for activation by the Water Development Department and will serve the Pegeia and Kissonerga communities in the Akamas region.
Additionally, two new boreholes in the Meleti Forest began operating Monday, adding further capacity to address seasonal water demand across the district.
Cyprus is grappling with a deepening water crisis, driven by three consecutive years of drought and critically low reservoir levels.
