The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus is closely monitoring the worsening situation in Syria, and notes that the security situation in the country can deteriorate further without warning.
The Ministry continues to advise Cypriot nationals to avoid all travel to Syria and, those who wish to depart from the country are strongly encouraged to leave through Lebanon where they can take advantage of available commercial flights.
Furthermore, Cypriot citizens in Syria are advised to avoid all areas in the country where there is ongoing fighting, all gatherings and demonstrations and remain vigilant. They are also advised to closely follow the developments and information from the international and local media, avoid unnecessary movements and apply maximum security measures.

Meanwhile, the Syrian military has sent significant reinforcements to Hama, aiming to strengthen front-line defenses as rebel factions advance in central Syria. Aleppo faces a deepening humanitarian crisis following its capture by rebel forces, according to reports from state media and activists.
“The situation in Aleppo requires urgent intervention by the United Nations to avert a humanitarian catastrophe,” the Observatory stated, calling for global attention to the escalating conflicts in Deir el-Zour and Hama. It warned that the continued fighting could lead to further destabilization as rival factions vie for strategic territories. ■
