A weak pressure system is affecting Cyprus, with a low‑pressure system expected to move in over the weekend, the meteorological service said Friday.
Dust will also be present on Saturday and Sunday, with concentrations expected to rise at times.
Periods of increased cloud cover are forecast today, with isolated light showers possible in the mountains and western areas. Winds will blow mainly from the southwest to west, moderate to strong at 4 to 5 Beaufort, and locally very strong at 5 to 6 Beaufort.
Seas will be rough. Temperatures will reach 20°C inland and along the coast, and 9°C in the higher mountains.
Tonight, patchy cloud is expected again, with a chance of isolated light rain in the mountains and the west.
Winds will ease to light to moderate southwesterlies, 3 to 4 Beaufort, and briefly strong 4 to 5 Beaufort in some coastal areas. Seas will be slight to rough. Temperatures will fall to 9°C inland, around 11°C on the coasts and 3°C in the higher mountains, where frost may form locally.
On Saturday, medium and high cloud will increase. Sunday will be mostly cloudy with local showers and isolated thunderstorms, though conditions are expected to improve noticeably from midday onward. Monday will be partly cloudy, with isolated showers possible.
Temperatures will edge up slightly on Saturday, rising a little above seasonal averages, before dropping noticeably on Sunday and Monday.
