CYPRUS WEATHER – JULY 29 –  A seasonal low-pressure system is affecting Cyprus, according to the national meteorological service.

After the early dissipation of patchy fog and low cloud cover, skies are expected to clear across the island Tuesday.

Winds will shift from light southeasterly to moderate southwesterly to northwesterly, reaching strong levels along coastal areas, particularly the southwestern coast where gusts may peak during the afternoon.

Sea conditions will range from slight to locally rough.

Temperatures are forecast to reach 39 degrees Celsius (102 Fahrenheit) inland, 34 C (93 F) on the eastern, southern and northern coasts, 31 C (88 F) in the west and 32 C (90 F) in mountainous areas.

Tonight, low cloud cover will increase, especially in the west and north.

Fog is expected to form in southern and eastern regions during the early morning.

Winds will weaken overnight, and seas will remain slightly rough in the west and north, with calmer conditions elsewhere. Overnight lows will dip to 24 C (75 F) inland and along the coasts, and 22 C (72 F) in higher elevations.

Mostly clear skies are expected through Friday, with some intervals of low cloudiness.

Temperatures will fall slightly through Thursday, remaining near seasonal averages.
