EMA Approves First Combined Flu and COVID‑19 mRNA Vaccine for Adults Over 50

The European Medicines Agency has approved the first combined seasonal flu and COVID‑19 vaccine using mRNA technology, authorizing it for people aged 50 and older.

According to the agency, the shot works like other vaccines by preparing the body to defend itself against infection.

It contains mRNA instructions for producing proteins found on the coronavirus as well as influenza A and B viruses.

The approval marks the first time an mRNA‑based combination vaccine for both illnesses has been cleared for use in the European Union.
