FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – Incumbent President Daniel Noboa has been declared the winner of Sunday’s election, defeating leftist candidate Luisa González, according to the country’s electoral commission.
Noboa secured 56% of the vote, while González, who aimed to become Ecuador’s first female president, garnered 44%.
With over 90% of the votes counted, Noboa had received more than 1 million votes ahead of González.
At an election vigil, González addressed her supporters, stating that she does not recognize the results and is demanding a recount.
