Borussia Dortmund opened the Bundesliga’s 15th round with a 2-0 win over Borussia Mönchengladbach on Friday, extending its club‑record home winning streak against Gladbach to 12 matches.
Julian Brandt put Dortmund ahead in the 10th minute, volleying in at the far post from a Niklas Süle cross. Gladbach players appealed for a foul in the buildup, arguing Serhou Guirassy had pulled Philipp Sander to the ground, but referee Sven Jablonski allowed the goal to stand.
Dortmund controlled most of the first half, with Guirassy heading wide and Karim Adeyemi forcing a sharp save from goalkeeper Moritz Nicolas. Gladbach improved before the break, though efforts from Florian Neuhaus and Giovanni Reyna were deflected off target.
Neuhaus threatened again early in the second half before Emre Can blocked his shot. Dortmund briefly thought it had doubled the lead when Guirassy scored, but the goal was ruled out for offside.
Both teams created chances late on. Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel denied Wael Mohya in the 80th minute, while Nicolas kept out substitute Maximilian Beier and then watched him miss a clear chance in the 89th.
Beier eventually sealed the result, scoring in the seventh minute of stoppage time from a Fabio Silva pass.
“It was a hard‑fought game, and we are happy to take the win at the end of a long year,” Brandt said.
Dortmund stayed second with 32 points, six behind leader Bayern Munich. Gladbach remained 11th on 16 points.
