FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – The European Union has said it is reviewing a proposal aimed at guaranteeing safe access to abortion for all women across its member states.
The initiative follows last year’s launch of the “My Voice, My Choice” campaign by several women’s rights organizations, which urged the EU to take action.
While abortion rights are broadly liberalized in most of the EU’s 27 member countries, access remains heavily restricted in some—particularly in Malta and Poland.
Women’s groups estimate that more than 20 million women in the EU currently lack access to safe abortion care.
