Cyprus Police have announced that fuel station owners plan to march on the Presidential Palace tomorrow, in protest against the government.
Members of the Cyprus Association of Liquid Fuel Station Owners will assemble at 10am in the car park of the GSP stadium before proceeding, in organised fashion, along Iosif Chatzioseph Street and Athalassas Avenue towards the Palace, Police said.
Officers will be deployed along the route to maintain public order and keep traffic moving, and temporary road closures are expected in the vicinity. Motorists have been urged to exercise patience, follow Police instructions, and seek alternative routes where possible.
Police reminded organisers that, under the Public Gatherings and Parades Law 151(I) of 2025, they are obliged to ensure the march passes off peacefully, and to liaise throughout with the local authority, Police, and the designated Responsible Officer.
The legislation also grants Police the power to impose restrictions on a gathering, or to disperse it altogether, should it turn violent, breach any conditions imposed upon it, pose a risk of injury or damage to property, or take place without prior notice. Officers may further order the removal of any item used to conceal or alter a person’s identity, where there are reasonable grounds to suspect it is linked to disorder or to the commission of an offence.
