US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has denied a Greek newspaper report claiming that President Donald Trump’s administration is preparing to stop using the facilities at the port of Alexandroupolis, which serve US troops.
“It’s not a true story,” Hegseth stated.
The issue was brought up during a joint press conference with French President Emmanuel Macron in the Oval Office.
When asked about the report by a reporter, President Trump appeared unaware of the matter and turned to Hegseth, who confirmed that the story was false.
The Greek newspaper had claimed that the Trump administration was considering halting the use of the port facilities due to security concerns and logistical issues.
However, Hegseth’s denial indicates that there are no such plans in place, and the facilities will continue to support US military operations.
