FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola has urged supporters to back his team ahead of their vital Premier League match against Aston Villa on Tuesday night.
City sits fourth in the table with 58 points after Saturday’s 2-0 win over Everton, with Villa just one point behind, level with Chelsea and Nottingham Forest.
With five Champions League spots guaranteed next season, competition for a place remains fierce.
“Every point, every game counts,” Guardiola told reporters Monday, calling on fans to rally behind his players. “Sometimes we are sloppy, sometimes we are not playing well, but now we need them—desperately—to support us, to make noise and be there all the time, because it’s a final, absolutely it’s a final for us.”
Guardiola praised Villa’s recent performances, including their narrow Champions League exit against Paris Saint-Germain last week. He described them as well-organized, fast, and dangerous on set pieces.
Meanwhile, Arsenal hosts Crystal Palace on Wednesday in a match that could mathematically decide the Premier League title. Arsenal’s 4-0 win at Ipswich Town on Sunday postponed Liverpool’s title celebrations, but a defeat for Arsenal would confirm Liverpool as champions before their match against Chelsea on Sunday
