GAZA CITY — At least 50 people were killed Friday in a series of Israeli airstrikes across the Gaza Strip, according to local authorities.
The majority of the casualties—35 individuals—were reported in Gaza City, where Israeli forces have intensified operations in an effort to gain full control of the area.
The Israeli military described the strikes as part of “extensive operations targeting terrorist infrastructure and high-rise buildings,” calling them preparatory steps for the next phase of its campaign.
One particularly deadly strike in the northwest part of the city claimed 14 lives, Gaza’s civil defense reported.
The bombardment comes amid ongoing efforts by Israeli forces to dismantle remaining resistance strongholds and enforce displacement from urban centers.
