FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE — The Resilience spacecraft, operated by Tokyo-based company Ispace, appears to have crashed during its lunar landing attempt on Friday, marking the firm’s second failed mission.

Ispace confirmed the mission’s failure hours after losing contact with the lander, which was carrying a mini-rover.

Communication ceased less than two minutes before its scheduled touchdown, despite a promising descent from lunar orbit.

The company previously attempted a lunar landing in 2023, but that mission also ended in a crash.
