FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE — Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam on Tuesday reaffirmed Lebanon’s commitment to ending Israeli occupation and intensifying diplomatic efforts against ongoing violations.

Speaking to the National News Agency, Salam condemned recent attacks on Beirut’s southern suburbs and other Israeli actions, describing them as breaches of hostilities agreements. He emphasized the need for a robust monitoring mechanism to prevent further violations.

Lebanon is actively engaging international actors, including the U.S., France, and key Arab and European nations, to apply diplomatic pressure, Salam said.

Amid these efforts, Salam highlighted initiatives to address citizens’ needs, including a $325 million reconstruction plan secured through negotiations with the World Bank. The government aims to repair infrastructure and improve living conditions.

Salam also called for strengthening the Lebanese army through additional recruitment to meet growing responsibilities in southern deployments and along the northeastern border. Security forces operating in critical facilities, including ports and airports, also require support.

“We remain committed to addressing the people’s concerns while ensuring the country’s security and sovereignty,” Salam said.
