Amid the freezing temperatures gripping Cyprus, two men of Egyptian origin were found dead on Wednesday morning in a multi-purpose room belonging to a refugee association in Episkopi, Limassol.
A citizen discovered the bodies in a haze of heavy smoke.
Initial examinations suggest the men had lit a charcoal fire inside the apartment to keep warm.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding tragedy, including their living conditions and employment status.
One of the men reportedly resided permanently in the area, while the other was visiting for the night.
This is the latest incident involving heating and electric mishaps during the winter cold snap. Last week, a family of five were killed after a fire swept through their home in Limassol.
