Police arrest driver after high-speed chase and collision in Limassol

Police arrested a 53-year-old man in Limassol as part of an investigation into conspiracy to commit a felony and misdemeanor, grievous bodily harm, possession of burglary tools, and negligent and reckless acts.

The arrest occurred during a motorized patrol by the Limassol Metropolitan Police Department, who approached a suspicious vehicle parked in an open area with three occupants.

As officers identified themselves, the driver reversed, injuring an officer, and sped away.

Police pursued the vehicle, which was driven recklessly and collided with an oncoming car. Officers fired warning shots, leading the occupants to abandon the car.

The 53-year-old driver was arrested and taken into custody.

A search of the vehicle revealed burglary tools, gloves, and surgical masks. The injured officer was treated at Limassol General Hospital and discharged.

Investigations by the TAE and Limassol Traffic Police are ongoing.
