Former US First Lady Michelle Obama will not attend President Donald Trump’s inauguration in Washington next Monday.
Obama’s office announced the news on Tuesday. No reason was given for the absence, the American ABC News television channel reported.
Former President Barack Obama has confirmed that he will attend the inauguration.
Michelle Obama has attended the inaugurations of every US president since 2009, including the inauguration of her husband’s successor, Donald Trump, in 2017.
Last week, Michelle Obama did not attend former President Jimmy Carter’s memorial service in Washington.
