FAMAGSTA GAZETTE – The recent increase in animal abuse cases is deeply troubling.
In 2024, 150 incidents were reported, a significant rise from 90 in 2023.
This represents a 30% increase since the establishment of the animal police department in 2021.
Despite these distressing figures, we must commend the efforts of our police force.
Their dedication to combating animal abuse is unwavering, and the rise in reported cases is partly due to increased public awareness and willingness to report incidents.
However, investigating these cases remains challenging due to the lack of eyewitnesses.
It’s essential to provide our police with the necessary resources and support to address this issue effectively.
