FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – Secretary-General Antonio Guterres will host a two-day informal meeting on Cyprus in Geneva, Switzerland, from today, March 17-18.

Guterres will welcome the heads of delegations at a dinner at the Intercontinental Hotel at 7 p.m, this evening.  The format for the dinner will be heads of delegations plus one guest each.

Tomorrow, March 18, Guterres will hold bilateral meetings starting at 9 a.m., also at the Intercontinental Hotel.

Each delegation will be led by the head of delegation and accompanied by five additional members.

An expanded meeting is scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m. at the Palais des Nations. The session, which will include statements from Guterres and the heads of delegations, is expected to conclude at 2:30 p.m.

The meeting in Geneva aims to provide an informal setting for the parties involved to engage in dialogue and explore potential solutions to the longstanding Cyprus issue.

Guterres’s involvement underscores the importance the UN places on finding a peaceful resolution to the conflict, and the inclusion of diverse voices in this process highlights the organization’s dedication to inclusive diplomacy.
