FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – Starting today, police forces throughout Cyprus will conduct intensified traffic checks, running until Sunday as part of a campaign aimed at improving road safety.
Collaborating with the European Traffic Police Network ROADPOL, the campaign will focus on monitoring speed limits to prevent serious and fatal road collisions.
Excessive speed has been identified as a major factor in determining the severity of road accidents.
According to police statistics, it was the second leading cause of road deaths between 2021 and 2023, accounting for 12.6% of fatalities during this period.
